The
failures of our country’s present stormwater sewer systems are driving the
need for a change to a watertight system. The loss of fines around pipes
and structures are resulting in structural failures and liability issues.
The in-flow of water and pollutants into the system are endangering
downstream wildlife and habitats. Exfiltration of contaminates into the
ground water is polluting drinking water. In addition, high product costs
and long construction times are necessitating the need for more innovative
processes for installation and design of storm water systems. Poor quality
along with low durability of products resulting in more maintenance and
repairs are draining financial resources.
Watertight storm sewers address all these problems. They control
infiltration and exfiltration into the system eliminating structural,
dewatering and pollution concerns. They are fast and efficient to install
due to their ability to accommodate joint deflection at the pipe and
structure and no waiting to backfill.
America no longer wants or can afford to have the underground storm
sewer system as they exist today. We need to commit our planning to a
watertight system in order to preserve our health, environment and
finances.
It is finally time to do it right and make it watertight!
